ARKEDGE AE24X EVO-R

Frequently Asked Questions

1. What is the difference between the AE24X EVO-R and AE24X PRO?

The EVO-R represents a new evolution of the AE24X platform rather than simply a lower-priced version of the AE24X PRO.

Its entire chassis architecture has been further developed, with optimized geometry points, suspension layout and overall packaging.

Through high-precision injection molding and specially tuned engineering materials, EVO-R achieves the rigidity, toughness and durability required for small-scale RWD drifting while enabling more efficient and consistent production.

The result is a chassis that preserves the core driving philosophy of the AE24X platform while making the experience accessible to more drivers.

2. How does EVO-R make the AE24X experience more accessible?

EVO-R introduces a new manufacturing approach built around high-precision injection molding and specially tuned engineering materials.

This allows ARK EDGE to achieve the structural consistency, rigidity and durability required for the chassis while significantly improving production efficiency.

The result is a lower entry barrier to the AE24X driving experience without lowering the product standard or removing the core tuning potential of the platform.

3. How durable is the injection-molded EVO-R chassis?

EVO-R was developed around the actual loads and requirements of 1/24 RWD drifting.

Its specially tuned engineering material is designed to balance rigidity, toughness, impact resistance, low weight and long-term durability.

High-precision molding also helps maintain consistent dimensions and fitment across production batches, providing a stable chassis baseline.

Critical areas continue to use aluminum alloy, TC4 titanium, brass and other materials according to their specific structural requirements.

As with any small-scale RC chassis, severe crashes, incorrect installation or excessive external force may cause damage, but injection molding itself does not mean reduced structural quality.

4. What is the purpose of the EVO-R Optional Parts Series?

EVO-R Optional Parts are not designed simply for visual “bling.” They are primarily developed for drivers who want to further improve chassis performance, expand the tuning range and increase durability.

For example, selected aluminum upgrade parts can increase structural rigidity, reduce chassis flex and provide more precise driving feedback.

However, OP parts are not required. The standard $99 EVO-R chassis is already a complete and highly capable drift chassis that can meet the needs of most drivers.

The reason some OP parts became available before the EVO-R release is that many existing AE24X users also wanted to upgrade their current chassis, and selected upgrade parts are compatible across both the AE24X and EVO-R platforms.

Drivers can select individual OP parts according to their own tuning goals, durability requirements, setup preferences and visual style.

5. I'm new to rc drifting. Should I start with the EVO-R or the OP parts?

If you're new to rc drifting, we recommend starting with the AE24X EVO-R chassis itself.

EVO-R is not simply the previous AE24X with a new name. It is a further evolution of the AE24X platform, with updates to the chassis architecture, geometry, overall design and driving performance.

At the same time, we retained compatibility with selected AE24X upgrade parts, allowing existing ARK EDGE users to continue building within the same ecosystem.

The standard EVO-R is already a complete and highly capable drift chassis. OP parts are better suited to drivers who want to further tune the chassis, personalize their setup, explore different materials and rigidity characteristics, or pursue a higher level of performance.

For your first ARK EDGE build, start with EVO-R, learn the platform, and upgrade only when you know what you want to change.

6. Is EVO-R the same chassis as the previous AE24X?

No.

EVO-R continues the AE24X platform philosophy, but its chassis architecture has been comprehensively evolved.

The geometry points, suspension layout, drivetrain packaging and overall chassis structure have all been further developed for EVO-R.

At the same time, selected components remain part of the wider AE24X ecosystem, allowing certain parts and accessories to be shared where compatible.

7. Is the EVO-R suitable for beginners?

Yes.

One of the goals of EVO-R is to make properly engineered small-scale RWD drifting more accessible.

The chassis comes pre-assembled, so new drivers do not need to assemble more than 200 individual chassis components from scratch.

Recommended electronics specifications and baseline setup information are also provided to make the first build easier.

At the same time, EVO-R retains extensive chassis and geometry adjustments, giving experienced drivers plenty of room for further tuning.

8. Is the AE24X EVO-R a complete Ready-to-Run RC car?

No.

The EVO-R is a pre-assembled RWD drift chassis, not a Ready-to-Run vehicle.

To complete the car, you will still need compatible electronics, a battery system and a body shell.

9. What is included with the EVO-R?

The package includes:

  • AE24X EVO-R Pre-Assembled Chassis ×1
  • Three wheel and tire sets for one car in 18mm / 20mm / 22mm sizes
  • Magnetic body mount components
  • Spare hardware and accessories

A digital user manual is available through the ARK EDGE website.

Electronics and body shell are not included unless otherwise stated.

10. What electronics do I need to complete the EVO-R?

A complete running setup requires:

  • Gyro
  • Steering servo
  • ESC
  • Motor
  • Transmitter
  • Receiver
  • Battery
  • Battery charger
  • Compatible body shell

Please check the recommended component dimensions before purchasing electronics.

11. Can I use electronics from other brands?

Yes.

EVO-R does not require an all-ARK EDGE electronics setup.

Compatible third-party motors, ESCs, servos, gyros, receivers and batteries can be used as long as their dimensions, specifications and mounting requirements fit the chassis.

The ARK EDGE AG4 is our recommended gyro for EVO-R.

12. What motors and servos are compatible with the EVO-R?

Compatible motor types include:

  • 130 brushed motors
  • 1626 brushless motors

Recommended servo dimensions: 20 × 21 × 11.3mm

Recommended output shaft: 4.9mm / 25T

Always check the exact dimensions and mounting specifications before installation.

13. What scale and body shells are compatible with the EVO-R?

EVO-R is designed primarily for 1/24-scale RWD drifting.

Its adjustable 90–118mm wheelbase allows compatibility with a wide range of 1/24 bodies and selected 1/28 bodies.

Actual fitment also depends on body width, track width, wheel offset and wheel diameter.

14. Can I use my MINI-Z body with the EVO-R?

Yes, many MINI-Z bodies can be used with the EVO-R, but compatibility depends on the specific body dimensions.

EVO-R supports an adjustable 90–118mm wheelbase and an approximate 71–82mm track width when using 8mm-wide, 0-offset rims.

Before installation, we recommend checking your MINI-Z body's wheelbase, body width, wheel offset and wheel clearance. Some bodies may require adjustments to the chassis setup, wheel offset or body mounting position for the best fit.

15. What can be adjusted on the EVO-R chassis?

EVO-R offers a wide adjustment range for different body shells, track conditions and driving styles.

Wheelbase 90–118 mm
Track Width Approx. 71–82 mm
Steering Angle Up to approx. 86°
Geometry Multi-Adjustable
  • Front camber adjustment
  • Caster adjustment
  • Front toe adjustment
  • Ackermann adjustment
  • Multiple steering linkage and geometry points
  • Suspension setup adjustment for different weight-transfer and response preferences

New drivers can begin with the recommended baseline setup, while experienced drivers can further refine the chassis according to tire choice, track surface and driving style.

16. What drivetrain does the EVO-R use?

EVO-R uses a compact gear drivetrain developed around the limited packaging space of a 1/24 chassis.

The drivetrain can achieve a gear ratio of up to 1:10.31 while maintaining a compact transmission layout.

This allows the drivetrain, suspension and electronics to remain integrated within the low-profile chassis architecture.

17. What suspension system does the EVO-R use?

Front: Pushrod Double Wishbone Suspension

Rear: Independent Suspension

EVO-R features increased suspension travel, giving the suspension a larger working range during weight transfer, transitions, acceleration and braking.

The front pushrod layout also helps maintain the low-profile chassis architecture while providing more usable suspension movement within the limited space of a small-scale platform.

18. What is the black cover on top of the EVO-R chassis for?

The black top cover is designed primarily for cable management.

While spending time at our own drift track, we noticed that many drivers had to deal with exposed or loosely routed wiring after installing their electronics — especially in compact 1/24 builds where space is limited.

This became one of the small details we wanted to address with the EVO-R. The cover helps organize and conceal wiring, keeping the electronics area cleaner and the overall build more integrated.

It is a simple feature, but one developed from observing how these cars are actually built and driven.

19. What materials are used throughout the EVO-R chassis?

EVO-R uses a multi-material chassis construction. Each material is selected according to the structural and dynamic requirements of its position rather than using a single material throughout the chassis.

Main Structure Specially Tuned Engineering Material
Gearbox / Shock Tower Aluminum Alloy
Chassis Links TC4 Titanium
Damper Pivots Brass

Many main chassis and structural components are produced through high-precision injection molding using specially tuned engineering materials designed to balance rigidity, toughness, impact resistance, low weight and durability.

Aluminum alloy is used where structural rigidity, dimensional stability and precise component positioning are especially important.

TC4 titanium combines high strength with low weight, while brass is used where localized mass, wear resistance and stable pivot operation are beneficial.

Steel hardware, bearings, shafts and drivetrain components are also used according to the mechanical requirements of each assembly.

The EVO-R material strategy is simple: the right material in the right position.

20. Is the EVO-R compatible with AE24X PRO optional parts?

Yes. Existing AE24X PRO optional parts are compatible with EVO-R, except for the AE-R3 Gearbox.

Please check the individual product information before installation where specific configuration requirements apply.

21. When will my EVO-R pre-order ship?

The first release of the AE24X EVO-R is offered as a pre-order.

Orders will be processed within 4–7 days after purchase and shipped in the order they are received.

Tracking information will be provided once the order has been dispatched.
