ARKEDGE AE24X EVO-R · 1/24 RWD DRIFT CHASSIS

24 Questions About the AE24X EVO-R

Everything you need to know about the drift chassis, setup, compatibility and the design behind EVO-R.

1. What is the difference between the AE24X EVO-R and AE24X PRO?

EVO-R represents a further evolution of the AE24X platform rather than simply a lower-priced version of the AE24X PRO.

The entire chassis architecture has been further developed, with optimized geometry points, suspension layout, drivetrain packaging and overall chassis structure.

Through high-precision injection molding and specially tuned engineering materials, EVO-R achieves the rigidity, toughness and durability required for small-scale RWD drifting while making consistent large-scale production possible.

The result is a new AE24X experience with a lower entry barrier — not a simplified AE24X PRO.

2. Is EVO-R simply a lower-cost version of the AE24X?

No.

EVO-R was designed from the beginning around the requirements of professional small-scale RWD drifting. The lower price comes primarily from a new manufacturing approach rather than removing the core chassis functions.

High-precision injection molding allows ARK EDGE to improve production efficiency and part consistency while retaining the geometry, adjustability and complete mechanical architecture required by the platform.

The entry barrier is lower. The tuning potential isn't.
3. How durable is the injection-molded EVO-R chassis?

EVO-R was developed around the actual loads and operating conditions of 1/24 RWD drifting.

Its specially tuned engineering material is selected to balance rigidity, toughness, impact resistance, low weight and long-term durability.

High-precision molding also helps maintain consistent dimensions and material characteristics across production batches, providing a stable chassis baseline from one EVO-R to another.

Critical areas continue to use aluminum alloy, TC4 titanium, brass and steel according to their specific mechanical requirements.

As with any small-scale RC chassis, severe impacts, incorrect installation or excessive force may still cause damage.

4. Why does such a small chassis have more than 200 parts?

Small scale does not mean a simplified mechanical structure.

A complete EVO-R chassis consists of more than 200 individual components across the suspension, steering system, drivetrain, gearbox, chassis links, hardware and structural assemblies.

These components work together to create a complete RWD drift chassis architecture focused on chassis rigidity, low weight, weight distribution, dynamic response and adjustability.

The good news is that the main chassis is already factory pre-assembled.

5. I'm new to RWD drifting. Should I start with the EVO-R?

Yes. If you're new to RWD drifting, we recommend starting with the AE24X EVO-R chassis itself.

EVO-R is a further evolution of the AE24X platform, with updates to the chassis architecture, geometry, overall layout and driving performance.

The standard EVO-R is already a complete and highly capable drift chassis. You can learn the platform first and add optional upgrades later based on what you actually want to change.

Start with EVO-R. Learn the platform. Upgrade with purpose.
6. What are the EVO-R Optional Parts actually for?

EVO-R Optional Parts are not designed simply for visual “bling.”

They are primarily developed for drivers who want to further improve chassis performance, expand the tuning range, change rigidity characteristics or increase durability.

For example, selected aluminum upgrade parts can increase structural rigidity, reduce chassis flex and provide more precise driving feedback.

However, OP parts are not required. The standard $99 EVO-R is already a complete and highly capable drift chassis designed to meet the needs of most drivers.

Some OP parts were available before EVO-R because existing AE24X users also wanted to upgrade their current chassis, and selected components are compatible across both platforms.

7. Is the EVO-R suitable for both beginners and experienced drivers?

Yes.

EVO-R was designed to make professional small-scale RWD drifting easier to enter without removing the adjustment range experienced drivers expect.

New drivers can begin with the recommended baseline setup, while experienced drivers can continue adjusting chassis geometry, steering behavior and suspension response according to their own driving style.

8. Why does the EVO-R come pre-assembled?

With more than 200 individual chassis components, building everything from scratch can be a major barrier for drivers entering small-scale RWD drifting for the first time.

EVO-R therefore comes with the main chassis factory pre-assembled.

New drivers can focus on electronics installation, body selection, baseline setup and driving instead of beginning with a complex chassis assembly.

Experienced drivers can also skip the basic build stage and move directly into their preferred setup.

9. Is the AE24X EVO-R a Ready-to-Run RC car?

No.

EVO-R is a pre-assembled RWD drift chassis, not a Ready-to-Run vehicle.

Electronics, battery, transmitter, receiver and body shell must be purchased separately.

10. What is included with the EVO-R?

The package includes:

  • AE24X EVO-R Pre-Assembled Chassis ×1
  • Wheel & Tire Sets in 18mm / 20mm / 22mm sizes
  • Magnetic body mounting components
  • Spare hardware and accessories

A digital user manual is available through the ARK EDGE Manual Archive.

Electronics and body shell are not included unless otherwise stated.

11. What electronics do I need to complete my EVO-R?

A complete running EVO-R requires:

  • Gyro
  • Steering Servo
  • ESC
  • Motor
  • Transmitter
  • Receiver
  • Battery
  • Battery Charger
  • Compatible Body Shell

The ARK EDGE AG4 is our recommended gyro option for the EVO-R.

12. Can I use electronics from other brands?

Yes.

EVO-R does not require an all-ARK EDGE electronics setup.

Compatible third-party motors, ESCs, servos, gyros, receivers and batteries can be used as long as their dimensions, specifications and mounting requirements fit the chassis.

13. What motor and servo should I use with the EVO-R?

Compatible motor formats:

  • 130 Brushed Motor
  • 1626 Brushless Motor

For a typical 1/24 RWD drift setup, we recommend starting with a 4500KV–6000KV brushless motor.

This range provides a useful starting point for balancing controllable low-speed response, wheel speed and overall drivability. Final motor choice can still be adjusted according to gearing, track size, tire choice and personal driving preference.

Recommended servo dimensions: 20 × 21 × 11.3mm

Recommended output shaft: 4.9mm / 25T

Always check exact dimensions and mounting specifications before installation.

14. What body shells can I use with the EVO-R?

EVO-R is designed primarily around 1/24-scale body shells.

Its wide wheelbase and track-width adjustment range allows the chassis to support many different short- and long-wheelbase builds.

Selected 1/28 bodies can also be used where wheelbase, body width, wheel offset and mounting conditions are suitable.

15. Can I use my MINI-Z body with the EVO-R?

Yes, many MINI-Z bodies can be used with the EVO-R, although compatibility depends on the dimensions of the specific body.

EVO-R supports a 90–118mm wheelbase and an approximate 71–82mm track width when measured with 8mm-wide, 0-offset rims.

Before installation, check the body's wheelbase, width, wheel offset and wheel clearance.

Some bodies may require changes to wheel offset, chassis width or body-mount position for the best fit.

16. Why does the EVO-R have such a wide 90–118mm wheelbase range?

A wider wheelbase range means more freedom to build the car you want.

Minimum Wheelbase 90 mm
Maximum Wheelbase 118 mm

From compact 90mm builds to much longer 118mm bodies, multiple vehicle proportions can be built around the same EVO-R platform.

Changing wheelbase also gives experienced drivers another variable for exploring weight distribution, rotation and chassis behavior.

17. Why does the EVO-R offer up to approximately 86° of steering angle?

EVO-R can achieve up to approximately 86° of steering angle, providing sufficient steering range for deep-angle RWD drifting and counter-steer.

But the steering system is not designed around angle alone.

Ackermann, camber, caster and front toe can also be adjusted, allowing drivers to refine front-end response, counter-steer behavior and stability at larger drift angles.

More angle matters. How you control that angle matters even more.
18. What can I adjust on the EVO-R chassis?

EVO-R provides a wide setup range for different bodies, track conditions and driving styles.

Wheelbase 90–118 mm
Track Width Approx. 71–82 mm*
Steering Angle Up to approx. 86°
Geometry Multi-Adjustable
  • Camber
  • Caster
  • Front Toe
  • Ackermann
  • Steering Geometry
  • Wheelbase
  • Track Width
  • Suspension Setup

*Track width measured using 8mm-wide, 0-offset rims.

19. Why did ARK EDGE redesign the suspension for the EVO-R?

EVO-R features a redesigned suspension system with increased suspension travel.

More usable suspension travel gives the chassis a wider working range during weight transfer, transitions, acceleration and braking.

Front: Pushrod Double Wishbone Suspension

Rear: Independent Suspension

The pushrod front suspension also allows additional suspension movement while preserving the low-profile chassis architecture.

The goal is not simply to make the suspension move more, but to give drivers more room to feel and tune how the chassis responds.

20. Why does the EVO-R use a compact gear drivetrain?

In a 1/24 chassis, every millimeter of space matters.

EVO-R uses a compact gear drivetrain designed to maximize gearing possibilities without unnecessarily increasing the size of the transmission package.

Drivetrain Compact Gear
Max Gear Ratio Up to 1:10.31

The compact transmission also frees up valuable chassis space for suspension movement, electronics and the low-profile overall layout.

21. Why is the EVO-R chassis so low and compact?

Small-scale RWD drifting places everything — suspension, steering, drivetrain, electronics and wiring — into an extremely limited space.

EVO-R therefore uses a low-profile and highly integrated chassis architecture designed specifically around the packaging requirements of 1/24 RWD drifting.

The layout focuses on:

  • Low-profile chassis packaging
  • Compact electronics installation
  • Efficient use of chassis space
  • Weight distribution
  • Reduced interference between electronics and moving mechanical components
22. What is the black top cover on the EVO-R chassis for?

The black top cover is designed primarily for cable management.

While spending time at our own drift track, we noticed that many drivers had to deal with exposed or loosely routed wiring after installing electronics — especially in compact 1/24 builds where space is limited.

This became one of the small details we wanted to address with EVO-R.

The cover helps organize and conceal wiring, keeping the electronics area cleaner while reducing the chance of cables interfering with moving chassis components.

A simple feature, developed from observing how these cars are actually built and driven.
23. What materials are used throughout the EVO-R chassis?

EVO-R uses a multi-material chassis construction.

Rather than simply using more metal everywhere, each material is selected according to the mechanical, structural and weight requirements of its position.

Main Structure Specially Tuned Engineering Material
Gearbox Aluminum Alloy
Front Shock Tower Aluminum Alloy
Chassis Links TC4 Titanium
Damper Pivots Brass
Hardware / Shafts Steel & Other Metals

Injection-molded engineering materials provide a balance of rigidity, toughness, low weight and durability.

Aluminum is used where structural rigidity and dimensional stability are especially important. TC4 titanium provides strength with low weight, while brass provides durability and useful localized mass.

Every Material Has a Purpose.
24. How far can I take the EVO-R as my driving skills improve?

Your first setup doesn't have to be your last.

New drivers can begin with the recommended baseline setup and focus on learning the fundamentals of small-scale RWD drifting.

As your driving develops, EVO-R gives you room to explore:

  • Wheelbase
  • Track Width
  • Camber
  • Caster
  • Front Toe
  • Ackermann
  • Steering Setup
